The kitchen, to the large majority of people, is the heart of the home. Meaning that when renovating, remodeling or even just buying a new home, this is the most important room in the house. It is vital that the style and design of the kitchen suits your personal tastes. It is wise to take your time, especially if you are remodeling the room. As it is the most important, it can often be the most expensive once all of the appliances are included. This makes it a large investment. All of the components that are being chosen for your kitchen must be picked out with care.

The sink is one of the most important parts of any functioning kitchen. The <a href="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/belfast-sink "title="" >Belfast sink unit is undoubtedly one the best selling sinks in today’s market place. The beauty of this ceramic sink is that it has the ability to blend in with any type of surroundings. Whether your kitchen will have a modern and contemporary style, a traditional farmhouse look or even a shaker design, there will be a Belfast sink that will suit it. It has a vintage style that many people crave in their kitchen.

Due to the huge increase in demand for <a href="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/belfast-sinks"title="" >Belfast sinks, there are now many products available that are not up to the usual high standards. When purchasing one of these items it, although is a bit of a cliché, you really do get what you pay for. Any offer that you see for these sinks that seems too good to be true, probably is.

The reason that is worth paying the extra money to attain a superior quality Belfast sink in your kitchen is the material that it is constructed from and the manor in which it is made. They are made using a superior quality fireclay; this is instead of the usual ball clay. The sinks are beautifully crafted from this high quality clay. This ensures that it will be incredibly robust; making sink will last for many years to come. This makes the extra money well worth investing. The look and the finish help to give your kitchen the “wow” factor that everyone wants.

As there are such a large number of different sinks available to buy, it can sometimes be confusing when you are searching for your Belfast sink. One important factor is not to get the sink confused with the Butler sink. Both the Belfast and the Butler sinks were designed in the latter part of the 17th century to be used in the butler’s pantry. The main difference is the presence of the Weir overflow on the versions that were produced in Belfast. This is therefore a key feature to look for when choosing your sink.

To help you to recognize the Belfast products, they are embossed with the manufacturers logo. This logo will be positioned on one of the side walls of the sink. This is a quality mark to let the buyer know that it is an original. The sink units are able to accommodate a 60mm waste basket strainer. The standard sinks can be placed into a normal 600mm kitchen unit. Once fitted they really do enhance the look of any kitchen that they are located in.

As the <a href="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/belfast-sink "title="" >Belfast sink unit is such a large investment, it is important to maintain it properly. Everyday stains like red wine or coffee, can easily be removed with the use of a scourer and some washing up liquids. For more severe stains, like a grey mark from a pan there are specialist ceramic cleaning products that can be purchased.

Have you been daydreaming about remodeling your bathroom with a glass sink? People have been skeptical about buying glass sinks; in today’s market, the manufacturers now provide very reliable products in a variety of styles and colors to fit any motif. <a href="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/glass-bathroom-sinks"title="" >Glass bathroom sinks are not that expensive with competition from so many manufactures; it is easy to transform you bathroom into an elegant work of art.

Types

When you leap into the world of glass sinks you will be overjoyed with color selections of ambers, blacks, browns, blues, reds, clear and more depending upon the manufacturer’s offerings.

Want to go for something a little more adventurous; try multi color tones in frosted or broken style patterns. Just imagine a new sink in your choice of round, square or even rectangular shapes.

These types of sinks also offer mounting options that you never had with the old traditional bathroom sinks. You can purchase above counter sinks (self rimming) or under-mount sinks, as you desire.

Manufacturers

There are a number of manufacturers for these luxurious sinks indicating there is a strong demand from consumers for quality sinks at affordable prices. You might want to consider a new glass vessel sink when you are thinking about remodeling the bathroom. You already have the room torn up and disorganized so it is a good time to replace the old sink.

The best place to shop and learn about styles, colors and prices is on the Internet. Check out manufacturers such as Kraus, Vigo Industries and Oceana to get some good ideas of what is affordable.

If you do not see what you envision there are plenty of companies that will be glad to take a custom order in exactly the color and style that fits your needs.

Durability

Copper sinks and English bronze sink taps are also a popular trend for the kitchen. They are as durable as stainless steel or chrome and allow a kitchen to have real flair. Copper sinks can be made in all shapes and sizes, and artful sinks designed by metal artists are a possibility. You can get them hammered, polished or some other texture style that suites your tastes. These offer the chance to have something truly unique in your kitchen. Copper as a material and natural element develops a patina after a little use. You can choose a sink with or without the patina already in place, depending on whether you want to already know what your sink will look like or whether you want to develop the look yourself.

Farm house sinks are a rustic relic, it seems and have been around for a very long time (more than a hundred years). A single huge rectangular sink, this type of sink was the common sink at many late 18th and early 19th century farm houses.

The sink has clean lines, which make it a favorite for contemporary design styles. They fit almost any kind of countertop and can be constructed from almost any kind of material. Faucets and sink taps for farm house sinks can be mounted on the wall or counter. Because of this feature, cabinets might have to be altered to fit the sink. They are not easy to install, as many other sinks are, so it would be wise to secure a professional to do the installation for you.

One of the current trends in sink taps is to make the sink tap the centerpiece of your kitchen. Most people opt for a minimalist look with clean lines, balance and simple, long curves. This is definitely a contemporary choice, but, depending on the finish, can be the first thing that draws attention when anyone walks into the kitchen. Taller sink taps are definitely attention-getters. The size alone makes anyone do a double-take.

Whatever your choice in sink taps, it is important to select a style that enhances your both your décor and your sink. Careful choice of color, material, shape and size could make the difference between a nice kitchen and a memorable kitchen.

Thoughts about future products for the American home often include visions of high tech gadgets. However, it takes a real creative mind to picture a great deal high tech equipment in the area around the bathroom basin. Still future changes in bathroom fixtures could lead to the introduction of less technological yet undeniably distinctive bathroom sinks.

Today, a set of bathroom fixtures in a strictly utilitarian bathroom includes a wall mounted sink. Yet the variety of bathroom basins now pictured on the Internet encourages speculation about bathroom sinks in the future. Maybe in the future, a sizeable number of bathrooms will have a vessel sink.

Unlike the wall mounted sink, the vessel sink stands away from any part of the building structure that surrounds it. At the same time, the vessel sink does share certain characteristics with the wall mounted sink. Both sinks have bathroom basin taps. The vessel sink can receive water from taps that come out of the wall behind that sink, or it can have pipes that extend upward from a stand that has been placed under the sink like vessel.

In the future, the stand under any type of vessel sink might take on a form quite different from the solid white ceramic stand that held up the conventional bathroom basin. For instance, that stand might resemble a spring; one can find pictures of a spring shaped stand on the Internet. By the same token, that stand could take on the shape of a wave; one can find a wave shaped sink stand on the Internet. Less futuristic, but equally impressive is the picture of a stone forest iron stand, one with legs that curve beautifully.

<img src="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/bathroom-basin-300x300.jpg" alt="bathroom basin" title="bathroom basin" width="300" height="300" align="right"" />As a growing number of homeowners choose to purchase vessel sinks, there should be changes in the expected feel of the bathroom basin. Those changes would result from the use of diverse materials during the making of those sink like vessels. Not every vessel sink on the market today has the hardness and firmness of a ceramic basin. Some vessel sinks are made out of glass. Others have been fashioned from steel.

Now makers of the bathroom basin realize that not every homeowner will think that a vessel sink is newer, smarter or better than one of the bathroom basin sinks. That fact explains the expanding line for an alterative bathroom fixture, one frequently described as a <a href="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/bathroom-vanities"title="" >bathroom vanity basin.

In many new homes, builders have chosen to place the bathroom sink inside of a vanity. The size of that vanity is generally determined by the size of the bathroom in which it will be placed. The smallest vanities have a width of only twelve inches. The largest vanities stretch across the wall over a distance that can measure up to four feet.

While those <a href="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/bathroom-vanities"title="" >bathroom vanities come in different sizes and have been designed from different materials, yet they all contain a functional bathroom basin. The most unique feature in any vanity is the visage that repeatedly appears in the mirror above the vanity basin.

When selecting a sink for your kitchen or bathroom, <a href="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/installing-undermount-sinks"title="" >undermount sinks are among the most attractive types you can choose. These sinks are installed completely under the countertop or vanity, which not only makes the sink and countertop area easy to care for and keep clean, but also creates a very attractive appearance. This style of sink is combined with solid types of countertops, such as granite, marble or engineered stone, because the cut edge of the sink opening will be exposed.

Basic Undermount Sink Installation Instructions

Installing undermount bathroom sinks is usually done under the countertop surface by using metal anchors, which are glued to the bottom of the countertop using a two-part epoxy. It is important when installing an <a href="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/installing-undermount-sinks"title="" >undermount sink to do a good job attaching the metal anchors, due to the fact that a sink full of water can be quite heavy. However, when the sink is installed correctly, it will remain permanently and securely attached to the bottom of the countertop surface, without any need to worry about water leaks or slippage.

When installing undermount sinks, the first precaution you will want to take is making sure that the underside of the countertop is completely free from dust and dirt. Be especially careful with this step, since there was dust created when the sink opening was cut into the countertop, and there still may be some residue of this dust on the countertop. Epoxies simply cannot adhere correctly to any surface that is covered in dust or dirt, so removing this is essential to achieving a good and solid bond. You will probably also be instructed to run a bead of clear silicone caulking around the lip of the undermount sink before it is installed. This will insure that there is a waterproof seal between the countertop and the sink.

Because of the epoxy and clamping techniques that are used to install undermount sinks, many homeowners hire a professional installer to get the job done correctly. However, if you do want to install one of these sinks yourself, it is certainly within the reach of the do-it-yourself homeowner. However, it is important to follow all of the installation instructions carefully, to make sure the installation is performed correctly.

The basic process of installing an undermount sink involves putting the epoxy on the lip of the sink, and then pushing it up from underneath so that it is centered and attached to the underside of the countertop surface. The sink is then clamped in place using bar clamps and a 2×4. Once it is securely tightened and clamped in place, the two-part epoxy is mixed and used to attach the hardware that will support the sink to the underside of the countertop. Then, everything should be allowed to cure and dry for at least a day before any plumbing is attached to the sink. This process should not be rushed, since if the epoxy is not allowed an adequate amount of time to cure and harden, the entire sink installation process could fail.

Undermount Kitchen Sinks

Undermount kitchen sinks are a very popular choice, and are often installed during new kitchen construction as well as kitchen remodeling projects. There are many attractive types of solid construction kitchen countertop materials available, which look striking with an undermount kitchen sink. This style of kitchen sink looks very sleek and modern, and is especially easy to take care of and keep clean, due to the fact that that the top edge of the sink does not have a lip above the countertop. Sink lips often accumulate dirt, making it more difficult to keep both the countertop and sink clean. With an undermount kitchen sink, countertop cleanup is simple, since you can just wipe the countertop and brush the debris directly into the sink. There are many different sizes and styles of sinks which are designed to be installed under the countertop. One of the most popular types of sink for undermount installations is a stainless steel sink, due to its light weight. However, an enamel finished cast iron sink can also be installed in an undermount fashion, as long as the proper supports are installed to support the heavier weight. Other more expensive metal sink materials are also available.

Undermount Bathroom Sinks

Undermount sinks are also a popular choice when installing a new bathroom or updating an older one. This type of sink can add a lot of modern style to the bathroom, as well as making the bathroom sink and countertop easier to keep clean. Undermount bathroom sinks are commonly made from materials other than stainless steel, such as perhaps granite or copper. Although these sink materials are more expensive, expenses are constrained because of the smaller size of the typical bathroom sink. Just as is the case with a kitchen sink, an undermount bathroom sink will need to be installed in a countertop which has solid material construction, since the cut edge will be exposed around the top of the sink.

Learning <a href="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/how-to-install-a-bathroom-sink-drain"title="" >how to install a bathroom sink drain is a pretty easy process, but there are a few questions you need to ask yourself before you get started. Are you equipped to do the job? While many bathroom sink kits, which you purchase from stores like Lowe’s or Home Depot, come with everything you will need to install the sink, you will need the tools to do so. If you have never undertaken any home improvement project before and all you have is a screwdriver around your home, you might want to consider a professional installation, or perhaps attending a plumbing school for the know how.

Plumbing school is a great way to familiarize yourself with the ins and out of installing different types of plumbing, from bathroom and kitchen sinks to more demanding projects like bathtubs and saunas. With the right training, you could take care of all of your plumbing needs around you home, all without spending too much money. Since plumbing school is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in becoming a do-it-yourselfer, then you should definitely take the chance.

If you do know how to install a plumbing, you should have no trouble with a bathroom sink. Of course, the first step in installing any sink is picking the sink, which you want to install. There are many different kinds, from vessel sinks to counter top sinks. If you choose to install a vessel sink, you should be aware that many of these types of sinks do not have an overflow system. Keeping this in mind, if you are the type of person who likes to fill up their sink and then walk away, you should probably find a sink which offers an over flow feature.

The second thing you have to consider is whether or not you want exposed plumbing. If you are installing a vessel sink, you likely will have exposed plumbing that will need to be taken care of. If you do not want to hide them, you can install all new chrome pipes, which will look great with your new sink. In addition, before you begin installing new pipes, you should remember to shut off your valves so you do not have any problems with the installation. In addition, you should take the time to replace your old crusty water valves with new shutoff valves, which work properly.

Aside from installing your new bathroom sink, you will need to choose which finish you want on your new hardware. With so many different finishes to choose from, you have a huge decision ahead of you. Nickel, chrome, bronze, and stainless steel are just a few of the options you have, all of which are available at your local home improvement store. Shopping around to get exactly what you want for your new sink may be required, but once you find the perfect set up, you will be that much happier.

Aside from choosing the perfect hardware and plumbing, you will need to know how to install it. How to install a bathroom sink is something any do it yourself home improvement specialist will have tips on, so speaking to them while you’re at the store purchasing your sink and other tools you need is a must. Aside from this, if you really want to get the know-how on installing a bathroom sink, you should find out if the local college offers plumbing school classes. These classes are a great way to familiarize yourself with the hardware you will need to get the job done, and you’ll find that the more experience you have, the better the job will go for you.

At one time, the apron sink was associated with old family farms. Once these large farms began to disappear, along with this kind of lifestyle, apron sinks were used less and less in home construction. There can be a variety of reasons for the apron sink losing its usefulness, but two jumps out at you when looking for this type sink.

First, the design of the apron front kitchen sink was to ensure that water did not puddle in the surrounding kitchen cabinets of the home, but instead fell to the floor. When you look at how older farmhouse kitchens were built, you can plainly see how the water would have gathered in the cabinets without the design of apron front sinks. They were raised above the kitchen tops, not flush as they are in most kitchens today, and the front of the sinks protruded out past the cabinets causing any spillage to end up on the floor. Many of the issues addressed by the apron sink slowly evaporated as dishwashers became more common in homes. No longer were large families washing so many dishes after meals as was once the case on American farms. Instead, families are smaller and dishwashers are now mechanical, not by hand over the kitchen sink.

A second reason the apron sink diminished in use was cost. Over time these larger sinks became more expensive and families chose not to put the investment into apron front sinks any longer. One need not look far today to see that the apron sink is still a bit more expensive than the traditional kitchen sink. Yes, you get more sink and you have a unique feature for your kitchen, but most homeowners do not see the need for such sinks.
However, though the apron sink continues to lad way behind its more traditional counterpart, it is experiencing resurgence in home constructions. Thanks to more affordable materials, the larger apron sinks no longer have to be significantly more expensive than other kitchen sinks. Thus, people are willing to invest in the purchase and installation of this different style sink.

Another reason these sinks are enjoying a modest market growth is they are aesthetically different than what has been installed for the past several decades, and thus people like them due to their “newness” when in fact they are not new at all. Their uniqueness is a great selling point since kitchens are viewed as key areas in which to invest your home buying dollars. In today’s housing market the idea is that kitchens and master bedrooms are key in the marketability of a home, so people want things that will cause their home to stand out from the rest in case they need to sell.

What if you decide to replace you kitchen sink, can you put an apron sink in the place of your existing sink? Yes, most likely since the newer incarnation of apron sinks have taken newer kitchen technologies into account. The apron sink of today can be installed with most any supporting structures that are already in place.
Do I need a professional to install my new apron sink or can it be a “do it yourself project?” If you are somewhat handy with a few tools, then putting your new sink in yourself should not be too much of a chore. If however you have doubts, by all means get it done correctly by a professional.

For those wanting to do their own install their new apron sink, you will need several things. You will need a jigsaw, screw gun, and tape measure for starters. Next, you will need to make sure you have 2×4 boards, screws, and painter’s tape. The actual installation of the sink is not too complicated as long as you have the necessary tools and materials. One thing that must be said by way of reminder to all who would install their sink is be sure you turn off your water supply to the sink area before you begin. Many a seasoned repairperson has experienced watery accidents by forgetting this basic point.

Can I get my apron sink in a style I like? Upon searching, you will find there are hosts of styles now available to those wanting to buy this product. All the materials used to construct more current kitchen sinks are also used in making apron kitchen sinks. What you will find is that generally speaking your can expect to pay more for a quality apron kitchen sink than you would a standard sink. This cost variance will increase depending on the materials use to build your sink.

For most, the least expensive kitchen sinks on the market are going to be stainless, and the same is true for the apron sink. True apron kitchen sinks can cost as much as $4000+ for those made from certain types of granite or marble. You need not spend near this much to have a most attractive apron sink placed in your new or newly remodeled kitchen. Very attractive apron sinks can be purchased for around $900 or less at various locations.

A glass sink is the latest decorating trend in bathroom sinks. It is state-of-the-art in home improvement for the discriminating homeowner. The wide array of inspiring designs, styles, colors and shapes make a glass sink both a functional and decorative addition to your home.

<a href="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/glass-bathroom-sinks"title="" >Glass bathroom sinks transform ordinary bathrooms into luxurious and stunning ones. They are great way to modernize the overall design of the bathrooms in your home without investing a lot of money on renovations. <a href="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/glass-bathroom-sinks"title="" >Glass Bathroom Sinks are practical and versatile, offering a wide variety for almost every personal taste and home decor.

Durable and Reliable

Technological advancements have made glass sinks incredibly durable, sturdy and trustworthy. Most glass sinks made with scratch, stain and thermal shock resistant glass. Many people think that glass sinks are only for the bathroom. However, they are functional for any sink in the house, including a wet bar or the kitchen. In fact, some restaurants use glass sinks in their kitchens. A high quality glass sink is designed to withstand everyday use and changes in temperature as well as last for many years. A glass sink is very easy to clean and maintain. Vinegar and water, a glass cleaner or any gentle, non-abrasive cleanser will keep your sink sparkling.

Types of Glass

There are several types of glass used to make glass sinks. Glass is made at different temperatures depending on the method. Different methods of working with glass create various styles of sink bowls. Hand-blown glass sinks are created by glass blowers and are considered works of art. The glass is blown from a pipe into the sink shape. Blown glass is a hot glass making process. The glass heated to a high temperature, so that it can be blown. Fused or slumped glass sinks involves fusing pieces of glass together. This process allows the artist to combine various pieces of glass to create different patterns and colors. During the fusing process, the glass is warm rather than hot because the glass only needs to be hot enough to fuse together. Mosaic and etched glass is a process that uses cold glass, which is glass at room temperature. Mosaic glass sinks are produced by gluing small pieces of hand cut glass to the surface of the glass sink. Sand and colored cement are used to grout the pieces securely on the sink, Then a sealant or finish is applied for protection.

Glass Sink Styles

There are several styles of glass sinks for most personal tastes and bathroom sizes. All of the styles are available in a wide variety of designs, finishes, colors and shapes. A pedestal sink has a center pedestal to support the sink. It adds a classic, sleek style to any bathroom.

A wall mounted sink can be adjusted to any height because it is not dependent on the height of the vanity or sink pedestal. It is fastened to the wall with brackets. There is open space below the sink for shelves or to hang a towel.

The console sink also has space below the sink, but is supported by legs rather than wall mounted. A corner glass sink is a great space saver for small bathrooms or bathrooms that are well suited for a corner sink. This sink style is shaped to fit into the corner of a bathroom. Popular styles for corner glass sinks are pedestal style sinks and wall mount style sinks

Glass Vessel Sinks

A glass vessel sink is a modern looking sink that rests on top of the vanity counter. It is available in most sink styles, including wall mounted and pedestal. Bowl shapes include round, square and oval. Glass vessel sinks have risen in popularity due to the incredible range of designs and colors available for decorative beauty. They are both functional and decorative works of art. A wonderful aspect of a glass vessel glass sink is that the entire sink from bottom to top is visible for exhibition. The variety ranges from a minimalist, sleek clear glass to an elaborate mosaic or etched glass. Ornate or intricate designs are usually on the exterior with a smooth finish on the interior for easy cleaning. A glass vessel sink may appear fragile, but it is made of thick and sturdy glass.

Lighting to Highlight The Art of Glass Sink Sculpture

Illuminating a glass sink with lighting draws focus to the stunning centerpiece. Lighting brings out the colors and forms of the glass sink. A light is placed underneath and/or above the sink to accentuate the beauty of the sink and create a styled effect. You can experiment with different lighting techniques to evaluate which look is best for the room. Also, glass designers can assist with creative design ideas.

A glass sink is a functional sculpture that will add an exquisite touch to any room with a sink. The wide variety of choices enables you to select the best glass sink for your décor and lifestyle.

<a href="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/belfast-sinks"title="" >Belfast sinks appear in many American high-end home designs today. Originally crafted from ceramic with thick, deep sides, and having a water supply and drain, they were a fixture in the butler pantries of seventeenth century Belfast, Ireland. Throughout the cities of England, sanitation standards, including sink designs, were developed, and enforced by local sanitation officers. The unique weir overflow feature was implemented in Belfast, where water was plentiful. However in London, wells were dug through hard clay to reach water, and the thought of filling a sink to overflowing was not acceptable. The butler sinks of London do not have the weir overflow feature. A typical size of a <a href="http://bathroomsinkonline.com/belfast-sink "title="" >Belfast sink is about 23 inches long by 18 inches wide x 10 inches deep.

Butler pantries were built between the dining room and kitchen of middle class American and British homes during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Since that time period, however, butler pantries have not been a fixture of middle class America, and such sinks are now found in the kitchens proper. British English kitchens in large homes would also have an overflow kitchen known as the scullery and later termed the utility room. This is where the butler sink was located, along with extra counter tops, tables, and stored food. The domestic staff used the room along with the butler. Logs for wines and other household purchases were kept here, and the household silver was tracked and guarded by the butler, who may have slept in the butler pantry as part of his guard duties.

In the late 1800’s, French Farmhouse sinks appeared on the market and began to gain attention. The sinks were made from locally available, finer clay, permitting thinner walls and designs that are more aesthetic. Again, the weir overflow feature is what distinguishes the Belfast sink from any other European utility sink models. The conventional Belfast fireclay sink, or ceramic sink, is now available in additional materials including antiqued iron, bluestone, concrete, waxed concrete, enameled stoneware, marble, natural stone, reconstituted stone, stainless steel, composite materials, and teak, a durable and water resistant wood. In the United States, the term Belfast sink appears to be more loosely interpreted, appearing in a variety of shapes and sizes and not necessarily with the weir overflow. The original large, white, thick sided, rectangular, ceramic sink of 17th century butler pantries seems very different from contemporary versions appearing on internet shopping sites.

A double bowl Belfast sink has a multitude of uses. If you wash pots and pans by hand, fill one with soapy water and use the other side to rinse. There are a variety of covers available for one of the sinks to expand counter space for food preparation. To encourage the use of fresh vegetables and fruits, it is always nice to have an extra sink for scraping and rinsing. In addition, if you have a cooking partner, it makes the work twice as fast and twice as fun.

Among all of the sink options that are available when selecting a new bathroom, kitchen or laundry sink, one of the most impressive styles available is actually a traditional sink called an apron front sink. Often seen in a country kitchen or a farmhouse laundry the apron front sink makes a feature of one side of the sink itself, ensuring that a decorative rustic appearance is made in the most functional part of the room.

An apron front kitchen sink is more than simply an attractive rustic sink that will suit a farmhouse kitchen style. It also contains a design feature that makes using it a more comfortable experience than what you will get from other sink designs. The reason for this is in the fact that the front of the sink is much closer to the person using it than other sinks. As long as you choose a suitably deep sink you will alleviate the possibility of back ache while using the sink.

With standard sinks, there is a narrow expanse of counter between the edge of the sink and the person using it. This space means you have to bend over slightly when using the sink. With an apron front sink you are able to stand right up to the edge of the sink, saving you the trouble of bending to use it.

These sinks feature steep walls that plunge to a good sized bowl, the deepest you would want to go, by the way, would be 8 inches. The walls of the sink are also quite thin to maximize the capacity of the bowl. In effect you have a sink that doesn’t appear to be overly large, yet its capacity is deceptively large.

In some cases the front panel of the apron front kitchen sink features a decorative design turning what would otherwise be a plain metal finish into a work of art. A textured stone finish is particularly effective for creating an interesting façade, too. Your functional kitchen sink would suddenly become the centerpiece in the room.

You will find these types of sinks most commonly made out of metals such as cast iron, bronze or copper for a more traditional look. Alternatively they are also available made from fireclay, granite, marble or a more modern looking stainless steel.

Whatever the material you use in the construction of your apron front sink, you are going to make a definite statement in your kitchen when you install it.
